All About Ingredients 101

Not everything lists the amount or percentage of an ingredient that is in a product, in fact most don't. BUT did you know that the higher up on the ingredient list something is the more potent that ingredient is? In most products Water/Aqua is the #1 ingredient and at the top of the list.

Let's remember that anything in large amounts can be bad for us! Even if it's considered good for you.

 Seen As 'Bad' Ingredients:

Parabens:
Man-made chemicals often used in small amounts as preservatives in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, foods, and beverages. Parabens can act like the hormone estrogen in the body and disrupt the normal function of hormone systems affecting male and female reproductive system functioning, reproductive development, fertility and birth outcomes. Parabens can also interfere with the production of hormones.

Propylene Glycol:
A viscous, colorless liquid, which is nearly odorless but possesses a faintly sweet taste. This ingredient has many functions, including acting as a humectant, preservative, and more. And it’s another one that can cause some vaginal irritation if you happen to be sensitive to it.

An ingredient considered generally to be safe so long as not consumed within large amounts. So basically as long as you're not chugging multiple bottles of lube per day, you shouldn't freak out about using a normal amount of propylene glycol-containing lube during sex.

Petroleum:
No using Vaseline or baby oil as a lube! You herd that right folks don't do it! These oily options can overstay their welcome in your vagina (since they're so sticky, they can hang out up there for longer than other lubes). For some people, that can alter the pH in their vaginas to the point where it leads to a higher chance of infections, like bacterial vaginosis.

Glycerin:
Glycerin is a humectant (meaning it helps to retain moisture) that shows up in a lot of lubes, especially ones that are flavored or warming. Although those special effects can be intriguing, your vagina might struggle when it comes into contact with glycerin.

Nonoxynol-9:
Many spermicides, which immobilize the little swimmers that could get you pregnant, contain this chemical. But its powers aren’t limited to sperm. Nonoxynol-9 can kill both good and bad bacteria in the vagina. Whenever your vaginal bacteria gets skewed off balance, it can result in an annoying infection, like bacterial vaginosis. Even if it doesn’t lead to an actual infection, the chemical might cause some uncomfortable inflammation and irritation. FYI, many condoms come prepared with a spermicidal lube, so you’ll want to double-check those too.

Good Ingredients And Why They're Good:

Aloe Vera:
Adds hydration and reduces skin irritation. Aloe vera is water-based, so unlike the oils, it's safe to use with condoms. Aloe's pH is around 4.5, making it an ideal all-natural ingredient for a lubricant. It effectively eases penetration, relieves pain, and smoothens the overall experience.

Vitamin E:
An antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. Vitamin E can eliminate vaginal dryness and lubricate the vagina sufficiently for sex.

Witch Hazel:
Not typically found in a lubricant but it's ability to fight bad bacteria and it's antifungal properties makes it a perfect natural ingredient in a Toy Cleaner! Witch Hazel also helps reduce swelling and repair broken skin.

Water:
Well I don't think we have to be very specific here...this ingredient speaks for itself.

Coconut Oil:
Its moisturizing properties may make the product an effective lube and allow for longer-lasting sex. For women going through menopause, coconut oil may be especially helpful. Hear that? A little bit more than a little dry down there, try opting for a lube with coconut oil in it.

Grapeseed Oil:
Grapeseed oil carries a low risk for allergic skin reactions but it can cause itching, rash, burning, or irritation in those with sensitive skin. Grapeseed oil is plant-based, and can be a great moisturizing agent for your skin. Also Non-comedogenic so it won’t clog pores or lead to breakouts, so it’s a good choice for external masturbation. Grapeseed oil is safe to eat and has no odor or flavor, making it a good ingredient in an edible lube or massage oil.

Hemp:
People who use a Hemp oil based lube swear by its ability to boost sensitivity during sex, relax vaginal muscles, and amplify sensations during orgasm. Also with the added benefits like antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, health promoting, skin calming. Did we mention that this powerhouse ingredient is also all natural and vegan friendly?

Lavender :
A natural essential oil that eases muscle tension and soreness during massage. Lavender's natural sedative properties promote better sleep quality. Also gentle on the skin, it soothes and addresses skin concerns. Using a massage oil that has Lavender as an ingredient could be a perfect way to end a stressful day for your partner.

Rosemary:
Increases concentration and memory, and also helps to relieve stress. A great antioxidant.

Castor Oil:
Exhibits strong antimicrobial properties, as well as strong pain-killing and anti-inflammatory properties.

Tea Tree Oil:
In a massage oil, Tea Tree Essential Oil detoxifies and disinfects the body, soothes inflammation, and relieves the pain of minor burns, sores, bites, and cuts. It's antimicrobial properties make a Toy Cleaner with this super ingredient a perfect choice!

WHAT IS DHEA ?

DHEA (dehydroepiandosterone) is a hormone that's naturally produced by the adrenal glands and has been clinically studied for the treatment of dyspareunia (painful intercourse), a symptom of vaginal dryness and atrophy which may occur during menopause or everyday life.

You may not be able to pronounce it,but that doesn't make it scary! Some ingredients are here to help our bodies out when they go through changes. Having a little bit harder time than usual with your sex life? Your vagina not a Slip N' Slide anymore?

That's okay and completely normal! Pick up a lubricant with the ingredient DHEA in it and you'll find yourself having a lot easier of a time enjoying the sexual activities you used to enjoy!
Opt for a lubricant with more moisturizing ingredients such as DHEA,Aloe,Coconut Oil,Hyaluronic Acid,Vitamin E,Jojoba,Squalane, and many others.

Popular Sex Position's

1. The Wheelbarrow:

Get on your hands and feet and have them pick you up by the pelvis. This is a great opportunity to bring that core strength into play... Then grip their waist with your thighs.
Deeper penetration and an amazing view of your assets for them, with an arm workout thrown in for you. As amazing as this position is it is definitely not for beginners!

2. Butterfly:

It’s great for creating really deep stimulation that both of you will enjoy. Plus, it takes effort off  both partners to pull off this position, so no one can say that they did all the work.
The woman lies back on the bed or flat surface of their choosing, bends her knees and spreads them wide apart. The man stands between her thighs with his legs spread shoulder width apart. His outstretched arms are on both sides of the female’s partner waist. He slightly leans his upper body forward. The woman wraps her legs around his neck or simply places them on his shoulders as she moves her hips to get into a more pleasurable groove with her partner.

3. Upstanding Citizen:

It’s not for everyone, but it will give you a new spin. The man raises his woman by putting his palms under her buttocks. She wraps her legs around his waist and wraps her arms around his neck. The male partner stands with straight back and legs slightly driven apart. In this sensual position, as they are facing each other partners can kiss and really turn up the heat. It's definitely a tricky position in terms of strength but it can result in mind blowing deep penetrative orgasmic sex. If you're struggling a little bit you can use the wall to help support your partner.

4. Missionary:

In the classic version of missionary, the bottom (receptive partner) lies on their back. The top (insertive partner) lies on top. The bottom partner's legs are placed beside the top partner's shins.
Many people love missionary because they enjoy the visuals and the eye contact. Missionary also allows you to make out while thrusting into your partner. This position is definitely one of the more romantically passionate ones and perfect for beginners.

5. The Chair:

You will strive towards pleasure and delight, touching your partner’s naked body and feeling him inside. The man sits in a chair, leans his body back and rests his head back. He lifts his feet on the tips of toes and spreads them apart. The woman sits on his loins with her back facing towards her partner. She tilts her body slightly forward, and throws her head back. Her legs are wide apart. Her palms rest on her partner’s knees for added support. This position is perfect if you need a little breast and clit action. With his hands, the guy caresses the girl’s breasts and clitoris to help her reach orgasm. Perfect if you want to finish up watching the movie you guys put on for date night. If you and your partner really want to spice it up you can put on an 'Adult Movie' and enjoy it together.

6. The Reverse Cowgirl:

If you know how to do regular cowgirl position (face your partner and straddle them with a knee on either side of their hips), then you know how to do reverse cowgirl. All you have to do is flip it and reverse it. Sit on top of your partner, facing their feet then have your partner bend their legs or keep them straight. Hold on tight to their knees or thighs and start moving up and down or grinding until you find what feels good.
The reverse cowgirl position is a classic for a reason, actually a few reasons.
Reverse cowgirl also offers a super sexy view that is bound to turn you and your partner on.
For some folks, reverse cowgirl can help deepen penetration making sex even more pleasurable. The angle of penetration in reverse cowgirl can provide direct stimulation, leading to heightened pleasure and intense orgasms for people with vaginas.

Whether you enjoy touching your clit during sex, having your partner tease you, or a mix of both, riding them in reverse may help enhance clitoral stimulation. Reverse cowgirl provides direct access for easy clitoral stimulation either with a finger or a toy, by either you or your partner. This position can also help with confidence! Alot of people enjoy The Original Cowgirl Postion but are self concious and lack the confidence to try it, but with The Reverse Cowgirl it offers the same pleasure as the original with added benefits and you're most likely to feel more comfortable and confident in your body allowing yourself to fully enjoy the pleasure that will overtake you.
Take a chance and try it out!

7. Doggy Style:

If you love getting it on from behind, doggy style is definitely a time honored favorite. In this variation, your bodies are angled in a way to make hitting the G-spot much easier, whether penetration is shallow or deep. Bonus? A fantastic view of your partners hine quarters!

8. The Cowgirl:

In the Cowgirl Sex Position she has control, so this one is all about the woman and how she moves her body.
She controls the speed, the depth, the angle, the motion and every other aspect that will take both of you on the most direct path to orgasm.
In the classic Cowgirl Position, he lies on his back and you straddle him, face to face.
perfect for clitoral stimulation. The more you lean forward, the better the friction to take your pleasure to the next level.

9. 69:

Two people align themselves so that each person's mouth is near the other's genitals. This is done by having one person lie down on their back. The other lies on top of them with their knees straddling their partner's head. The two people can then perform oral sex on one another. In opposite sex partners, the woman is typically the person on top, whereas the man is on his back.

10. Leap Frog:

A variation of the standard doggy. The woman kneels down and lies face down, legs and arms are driven apart. The male partner kneels between his lady’s legs. His legs are driven apart and feet are together. One or both of the man's hands are on her booty, or you can switch it up. One hand on the booty and the other he can take her by the hair to set the pace of the sexual encounter and the depth of penetration. The female partner can increase the friction and tightness by squeezing her legs together. The lady doesn’t have to do much staying in position. If she wants harder penetration, then she can push back onto her man with each stroke.

11. Scoop Me Up:

The woman and man lie on their sides both facing the same direction, with the man behind the woman. The man slides in whichever hole of their choosing, and both partners gently rock to orgasm. Think of it as spooning with a little extra bonus if you know what I mean. This is a relaxing position for both you and your partner, plus both your hands are free to explore eachothers bodies or your own. She can play with her clitoris or guide your hand to wherever she wants to be touched.

This is the perfect position if you don't feel like overexerting yourself!  Although you won’t have a lot of room in this position to actually thrust in and out, but if you just stay inside her and push against the front wall of her vagina, there will be constant pressure against her G-spot creating incredible pleasure. Let the moans begin!

12. Pretzel Dip:

This position makes for quite the show, and opens the female up for full, deep exposure. Extremely erotic, there’s something delicious and alluring about it. It is a deep sex position for ultimate pleasure that places both parties in contact with one another. The woman lies on her side, her arm and leg are on the floor/bed. She then lifts her second leg and places her other hand on the bed to help support her balance. The man kneels down so that her leg is between his thighs. He throws her raised leg on his shoulder or hip. With one hand he embraces his partner. He grabs her thigh with his second hand and thrusts into her like no tomorrow, making her love tunnel pulse with lust. This is also a perfect position to take advantage of the view and grab her succulent breasts making her purr. Taking both you and her pleasure to the next level!

First Sex Shop Visit

We all have been there, whether it's sitting at a coffee shop for the first time by yourself, going bra shopping or even that yearly trip to the Doctors office!  It's okay to be a little awkward sometimes, it's completely normal. Just think of your visit to your local sex shop as like going to the Doctors. They've most likely herd and seen it all, there's no need to feel embarassed!
A few little tips to help you with those butterflies flying around in your stomach...
All in all yes it can be overwhelming on your first visit, or maybe even your fifth...we know that!

The people that work there are there to help you. We want you to have the best experience possible so you'll feel comfortable to come back and see us in the future.

#1. Talk To Them:
They're just normal people who happen to work in a store that sells sex toys.

#2. Ask Them Questions:
Don't be afraid to ask them questions about something or a product you're either not too sure or curious about. It's better to feel a little uncomfy for 5 minutes then to get home with a toy that is not what you wanted at all! Ask for recommendations if you're not too sure on what to get. They'll have the knowledge to know which brands are worth it and which aren't. Don't always go in thinking that they are going to try and upsell you on a product! Yes sometimes that is the case in some shops, but the majority of the time the person working there just wants you to get the best toy possible for what you're looking for so you're not unhappy when you get home with a toy that wasn't exactly what you pictured.

#3. Testing:
99.9% of the time your Sex Shop Associate is going to 'test' whatever vibrating toy you bring up to the counter. They'll turn the toy on (put batteries in if need be) and run through the settings with you to show you that the toy works before you leave the store. It's a reassurance to us that we know the toy wasn't malfunctioning before it left the store, to make sure we didn't give you a faulty toy, and to show you and make sure you know how to control the functions! Sure it'll most likely come with instructions, but sometimes those can be a little overwhelming and just don't cut it.

#4. Checkout
If they ask you if you want to see the product out of the box, say yes! They're likely trying to help you out and make sure you 100% know what you're getting. Sex Shops generally have a 'No Returns Policy' so knowing what you're getting is important.
We don't want you to waste your money on something that could have been avoided. The reassurance of knowing that you got what you wanted is important to us! Packaging can sometimes be misleading, so take them up on it if they ask.

#5. Learning
Take it as a learning experience even if you don't purchase anything. Learning something you possibly didn't know before you went in.

May Is Masturbation Month

Masturbation is a normal and healthy sexual activity. It's a natural way for individuals to explore their bodies, experience pleasure, and learn about their own sexual responses. It can also be an excellent form of a self care activity.
It offers  many advantages to both mental and physical well-being. Among the healthy benefits are reduced stress, improved sexual experience, elevated mood, increased energy levels, and improved body awareness. It's advantages extend beyond cardiovascular and sleep improvements to include numerous other benefits.
Masturbation allows you to have control over the situation and get to know your body at your own pace. It also releases 'feel-good' chemicals such as:

Dopamine:
Often referred to as the 'feel-good' neurotransmitter, Dopamine plays a key role in pleasure and reward cicuits in the brain. It's released during sexual arousal and orgasm, contributing to the sensation of pleasure and satisfaction.

Oxytocin:
Often called the 'love hormone or 'cuddle hormone', Oxytocin is released during sexual activity, including masturbation. It promotes bonding, trust, and intimacy, and it can also induce feelings of relaxation and contentment.

Endorphins:
Endorphins are natural painkillers produced by the body. They are released during sexual arousal and orgasm, which can contribute to feelings of euphoria and well-being. Endorphins can also help alleviate stress and anxiety.

Prolactin:
Prolactin levels increase after an orgasm. it's involved in the refractory period, during which a person might experience reduced sexual arousal and be less responsive to further sexual stimulation. Prolactin is also associated with feelings of sexual satisfaction and relaxation.

Serotonin:
Serotonin is a neurotransmitter involved in mood regulation and feelings of well-being. It's levels may fluctuate during sexual activity, potentially contributing to the overall emotional experience. Experiencing the highs and maybe even the lows, this guys the culprit.

These chemicals work together to create the pleasurable sensations and physiological responses associated with sexual arousal and orgasm. However, it's important to note that individual responses to masturbation and sexual activity can vary, and factors such as context, mood, and personal physiology can influence the release and effects of these chemicals.
Despite being a common behavior, masturbation is sometimes surrounded by myths and misconceptinos. It's important to debunk myths and promote accurate information about masturbation to reduce stigma and promote sexual health and well-being.

Good luck!
Always remember to listen to your body's intution and signals on what's for you and what's not. Not everyone is the same, which leads to everyone's body responds differently. Masturbation is a perfect way to explore and get to know your body's needs personally.
